Cover-Ups

Turn that old tattoo into something you actually want to show off.

Cover-Up Tattoos

Not every tattoo ages well, and not every tattoo was a good decision. A cover-up replaces an old, faded, or unwanted tattoo with a new design that conceals it completely. Cover-ups require a specific skill set because the new design has to work with the existing ink. Our artists are experienced at designing cover-ups that look intentional, not like a cover-up.

During your consultation, we evaluate the existing tattoo including its size, color density, and placement. We then design a new piece that incorporates or conceals the old work. In some cases, a laser lightening session before the cover-up gives us more flexibility with the new design. We will be honest about what is possible and what the best approach is for your specific situation.

Our Process

1

Evaluate Existing Tattoo

We assess the old tattoo's size, color, density, and placement to determine what cover-up options are realistic.

2

Design the Cover-Up

We create a custom design that conceals the old work while giving you something you genuinely love.

3

Tattoo Session

We tattoo the new design over the old one with techniques that ensure full coverage and a clean result.

Cover-Ups FAQs

Small tattoos start around $80 to $150. Medium-sized custom work runs $200 to $500 per session. Large-scale pieces are typically priced by the hour at $150 to $250 per hour. We provide a quote during your consultation based on the design, size, and expected time.

It depends on the placement and your personal pain tolerance. Areas over bone like ribs, elbows, and ankles tend to be more sensitive. Areas with more muscle and fat like upper arms and thighs are usually more comfortable. Most people describe it as an annoying scratching sensation that is very manageable.

Keep it clean and moisturized. We will give you specific aftercare instructions, but generally you wash with unscented soap, apply a thin layer of fragrance-free moisturizer, avoid direct sun and soaking in water for 2 to 3 weeks, and do not pick or scratch it as it heals.
